How American Syscomptel, Inc. Started
From a desire to serve to a legacy of service
Our story began in the 1980s in Green City, Missouri, where Pastor Jim Rardin saw the suffering of his congregation due to a lack of steady jobs. He had the idea to assemble a group of reliable locals and sell their labor in the marketplace. This led to the creation of American Syscomptel Inc. (ASI), which initially produced telephone line cords for small phone companies in northern Missouri.
In 1984, Gary Chowning, inspired by Pastor Rardin’s efforts, started a similar venture in Forsyth, Missouri. The company began by assembling small electronic parts by hand and gradually expanded into wire harness production.
Despite challenges, such as a massive fire in 2000, ASI has continued to grow and thrive. Today, the company provides steady jobs at fair wages to over 60 team members.

We’re proud to be a member of the Wire Harness Manufacturers Association. WHMA’s integration with IPC for standards ensures that we keep up to date with manufacturing standards in our industry. ASI is a UL and CSA certified wire harness manufacturer and provides recognized assemblies for our customers who need these certifications.

What is the IPC/WHMA-A-620 Standard?
The IPC/WHMA-A-620 Standard remains the only industry-consensus standard for Requirements and Acceptance of Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies. IPC and the Wiring Harness Manufacturer’s Association (WHMA) continue to work together to develop and maintain this standard.
UL – Certification
ZPFW2 und ZKLU2
American Syscomptel Inc. manufactures custom wire and cable assemblies according to UL wiring harnesses ZPFW2 und ZKLU2 on request.
As a contract manufacturer, American Syscomptel Inc.(ASI) manufacturers to your detailed drawings and specifications. When a UL certified assembly is required, it is important that your specifications meet the corresponding UL standards for all required materials.
If you need us to, we will work closely with your company, and our material suppliers to ensure the materials and processes required to manufacture your product meet the applicable UL standards.
UL is an independent organization which analyses and certifies products as to their reliability.
UL analyses products, components, materials and systems as to their specific requirements. If so, these products will be labeled with the UL symbol.
American Syscomptel Inc.(ASI) is regularly audited by UL to ensure that we are in compliance with UL standards.
